In the last two months, I (Karen) haven’t blogged much. But the website-outside-the-blog has been changing and growing day to day: after finishing my AmeriCorps term through the Northwest Service Academy, that web admin task has really been keeping me busy.

However, that’s not the only thing we’ve been up to…

As per the title of this post, we are thrilled to announce the first limited run of our Chicken Shirts. In keeping with our commitment to purchasing sustainably, we had these shirts printed by EvolTwin Printing (Loric prints our uniform shirts, too) on organic cotton tees. Merchant services are wicked expensive, so we’re still accepting payment by check or cash only, but we hope to have the shirts available at local retail outlets shortly. And in the meantime, we pretty much always have a few with us, so if you see us around town, make sure to ask the new Chicken Shirt ladies about getting your own!

In addition, I/the business was accepted into an Individual Development Account (IDA) program at NAYA, which has been phenomenal. It’s allowing me to take Toby Hemenway’s Permaculture Design Certificate weekend intensive training course, as well as a microenterprise class based on ONABEN‘s Indianpreneurship curriculum. It’s an opportunity beyond my wildest dreams, and one for which I am incredibly thankful.

And last but not least, we’ve been teaching quite a few classes at the Urban Farm Store. I will do my best to get some of the information that we presented at the classes up on the website soon, since we won’t be offering those particular topics again this season. We are putting the final touches on our later-fall class schedule, though, so we will get that out soon.

All in all, it’s been a great little window of time, and we look forward to keeping up the pace through the rainy months.
